I've been working on writing down patterns for my current projects, but that's not all I've been doing. I've also been knitting and writing down updated version of pattern I published in 2011. It was the first pattern I ever wrote. It was first written in Finnish, but people on Ravelry asked for English translation so I tried to write one for it. To be honest I wasn't as good in English or pattern writing then as I'm now. I've been a bit embarrassed about the poorly written pattern for years, but at the same time too busy and ashamed to actually fix it. So here I am, finally fixing the pattern. Fixing might be really the right word for it as I'm rewriting the whole thing and updating even the charts. I might just as well put it up as a new version of the pattern as the needle size is even different...

Why is it that you always seem to spent different amount of yarn for the same pattern even if your yarn is basically the same? (The same 100g/420m). First version of "Leaves on pathways" took over 100g and now the second version knitted with same type of yarn doesn't seem to require quite as much yarn... Now I'm not quite sure how much yarn the project will actually take. It'll be around 100g, but is that specific enough? I have to finish knitting this shawl first and then weight both of the shawls, maybe the skeins weren't the right weight to begin with...

I've also been thinking about christmas presents. Am I actually knitting any this year? Most likely I don't really have time to knit as much as I did last year, but there is couple of things I plan on still knitting.

One of the things actually is a pattern of mine and while knitting it I can finish writing the pattern for the thing. Luckily it's a rather quick knit, pair of baby socks in fingering weight yarn. It's something I've been developing since "Watson, what's that on your hands?" fingerless gloves/mittens. The baby socks are also inspired by a jumper John Watson wore in Sherlock's first series. They are meant for about a year old baby and were designed my friend's baby in mind. He had outgrown the socks I had knitted him when he was younger and I had to knit something a bit bigger. Now I also need to finish pair of these socks to my goddaughter in pink and keep on my grandmother's the tradition of giving socks to people on christmas...
