9.

Since last post I've been to Tampereen kädentaitomessut ja Jyväskylä Neulefestareiden talvi. Tampere was fun, but there were so many people that it was all a bit overwhelming at times. I bought few skeins of yarn from there and those skeins are still waiting to turn in to projects.

Jyväskylä winter knit fest was at 2-4.2.2018 and I spend Friday and Saturday at Jyväskylä. After arriving on Friday afternoon to warmer Jyväskylä, than my home town, I headed to my hotel to drop my bag off. It was till snowing in Jyväskylä, so it was a perfect weather to wrap to knitwear. On Friday afternoon I looked around the somewhat quiet festival area wondering how the snow made it all so cosy experience.

I spend some time at Isokummun lammastila talking about spinning, spindles and spinning wheels with the locals from near my hometown. Apparently I had to travel all the way there to find people from my area who spin. I also bought a beautiful spindle made in Finland, again near my hometown.

On Friday I also bought three lovely skeins from Rouva Silmusolmu. I was considering a fourth skein for a long time, but I settled on three skeins. Fourth would have been a bit too much, right?

I bought lovely sukkis yarn, in grey, some white with speckles of black and grey and surprisingly a coral skein. First two are very typical colours for me, but the third was like the most colourful skein I've ever bought for myself in mind. But the colours looked so good together, so now I just have to design a shawl with them.

I also bought a canvas bag, blocking needles and a project bag from Titityy. I think Titityy is my favourite shop of all times and the new premises were so spacious compared to space they had before. The atmosphere in there was wonderful, the old building with all the fireplaces, soft colourful yarn and all the people crazy about knitwear and yarn.

On Friday evening there was a meeting at Cafe Muisto. Thanks for everyone who chatted with me! So basically the company was lovely, the food was lovely and it felt like I could have stayed there a long time just knitting and talking to other knitters. (Yes, I might I have realised later that I had actually talked to a knitwear designer I admire and later had a "Omg, I'm an idiot" realisation. This is what I get when I'm really super bad at recognising people. I'm this bad.)

Saturday after having breakfast at my hotel and telling a stranger I liked her knitted Veera Välimäki sweater I went to Festival area again. No, one day of spending hours looking at yarn, partly outside in the winter weather, wasn't enough for me.

So on saturday I bought some more yarn from Titityy and a sock blank from Handu. The Skein Queen colours were so wonderful and I never had a sock blank before so I just couldn't resist buying one that was so colourful.

After freezing some more outdoors looking at all the wonderful yarn I spend rest of the afternoon doing more shopping and having hot chocolate. I really enjoyed the more quiet winter knit fest and I can't wait for the summer knit fest! Yes, I already have ticket to one class and I'm considering more...
